Save the Dates: What is the purpose and do I need them?
{Photo: Paper Dreams}
Save the dates were originally designed for couples who were planning their nuptials with a year or more away; if they were having a destination wedding; or if their wedding was happening on a holiday. In these instances it provides your guests plenty of time to prepare, plan and coordinate vacations and finances.
However couples who are not having weddings on a holiday or far away from home, still choose to use save the dates. It’s a fun and exciting way to introduce their wedding plans to loved ones as well as an opportunity to give a keepsake.
If you are planning a wedding, and if any of the reasons above apply, by all means do so. And if none of them apply and you choose to do so; it’s all about your preference. However, do not send then if your wedding is less than six months away.
Tip: Make sure that your Save the Date is personal and tailored to you both. Make the cards fun and exciting; depicting both of your personalities and the love you share for one another.

Announcing Your Engagement
So you’ve shared the great news of your engagement with your immediate family; and you may or may not choose to throw a soiree, but you definitely want to make it official by letting everyone know.
Traditionally engagements are published in newspapers but couples today are choosing to make this momentous occasion of their lives and those of their loves ones more personal.
Sending engagement announcements can be a fun way to tell everyone that you’re on your way to tying the knot. Since you will be in the early stages of your planning, whether or not you choose to incorporate your color scheme does not matter, but should reflect who you two are as a couple.
In addition, when sending your engagement announcements, make sure that everyone who will be invited to the wedding receives one. So that way there will be no confusion. Should you choose to include your wedding date on the announcement; then the card can also double as a Save-the-Date card.
Congratulations and Happy Announcement!

Lisa
